"What got you back in?" to collecting comics that is ...

"What got you back in ?"

I was Talking to a new friend +Dustin Guzman the other night and i realized how cool it was listening to stories about who , or what happened to get us to this point? Collecting these color copies of paper and savoring them like they are our children.

I collected comics my whole life ... I had long box after long box. I went to the shop and flea markets weekly to buy my favorite books. What happened ? Flood... when i was just going into college moving out of my childhood home couple weeks after i left got a call from my uncle ... "Gary the basement where all your comics and toys were got 6' of water overnight" .... everything's gone ... ruined. My childhood got crushed that night ... i had 1 box of Star Wars and GI Joe books that i had taken with me to read. The rest gone. In Fact i Still Have my Star Wars #42 ... some of you may have seen it , i pressed  and got it graded ... 9.8 White Pages. One book i will never sell. Anyway that's a touch of the back story.... how did i get back into this ??? one reason !  Fathers Day afternoon about 3 years ago in a small waterfront town , enjoying carnival rides and a car show with my family, my wife was like "hey there's a box of old comics in this shop go take a look at them." Taking a fast look at them this puppy was staring back at me ...

I asked the lady working how much ? and before she even said $1 I had the money out.  Granted its a low grade copy for sure ... but this was the book That got me pumped as a kid... this is the book i saved my allowance for 3 months to buy on the Wall ... i had a NM copy i bought for $80 ... from a popular local shop called Queen City Books. I cherished that book ... yeah it was water logged after the flood ... but finding this book in the wild for $1 ! Started a fire within me ... again. What a great feeling it was to be back .... whats your story ? Come share it with me on my Google+ page or hangout message me , i'd love to hear it.

Welcome Back this is a great time to be "young" again.  Thanks for taking the time to hear my story ... and as always God Bless and have a great night !
